I’m glad you’re here!
If you’re aiming to be a better person than you were yesterday, let’s get to work on that!
If you’re motivated to learn more about yourself, others, and the world around you, I’m here to help.
If you want to cultivate more empathy in your life, we’ll be a great match.
As we start working together, I’ll ask a lot of personal questions to get a feel for who you are. I have an AWESOME sense of humor (if I do say so myself) and crack a LOT of jokes… so it won’t be stuffy or impersonal.
And if you see me playing with fidgets or puzzles or coloring as we talk, know that I’m REALLY listening.
My focus as a therapist…
I work with people of all ages and at all stages. I don’t have a lot of experience with children under 12, but I’m always open to gaining more!
When I was in school, I used to say the two populations I would NOT want to work with were prison inmates and teenagers. But guess what… now, they’re some of my favorite clients! They seem to like me, too.
It’s important to me that you feel comfortable with me as a therapist, so I use a variety of methodologies to make sure you’re at ease and making progress.
Some of my professional background…
I completed my bachelor’s and master’s in social work at Utah Valley University (UVU). I did an extra year of internship just to be extra cool! I’ve been a practicing therapist for about three years.
l have experience with individuals, couples, and families. Most of my experience has been targeted to substance use, but I’m also skilled in treating anxiety and depression, sexual trauma and disorders, queer or questioning sexuality, gender dysphoria, OCD, and eating disorders. I also do some maternal and prenatal therapy.
Outside the office…
I am a single mom of three kids (3, 16, and 18). As a family, we’ve contended with autism, ADHD, and a rare genetic disorder that affects our body’s connective tissue.
We love to camp and fish. We’re also into books and movies. We enjoy traveling together. We’ve been to Alaska twice and went to Mexico last year.
Finally, I LOVE animals. I’m currently training one of my dogs to be a therapy dog. I’m happy to bring her in for anyone who’d like to help her get more training! We also have three cats at home (full of personality). I’d have a zoo if I could!
